“To study the Buddha Way is to study the self.
To study the self is to forget the self.
To forget the self is to be actualized by myriad things.
To be actualized by myriad things is to realize 'no-barrier' between self and other."
Eihei Dogen, 13th Century
BDG is a small, lay-led practice community in the Soto Zen (Japanese) tradition of Buddhism.
We benefit from a direct affiliation with Reverend Dai-En Bennage of Mount Equity Zendo in PA, as well as Dharma connections to the Thich Nhat Hanh (Plum Village) and the Zen Peacemakers communities.
We practice sitting zazen, walking meditation (kinhin), deep listening and speaking from the heart in the tradition of Zen Buddhism.
Sunday Morning sitting and service is the core of our practice, from
8:00 -9:30 am. There are no prerequisites but we do need to hear that you'd like to join us at least 24 hours in advance of your first visit so we can provide details on clothing, location, parking, etc.
Thursday evening class meets from 7:30 - 9:00 pm and also requires pre-registration.
Please contact us before your first visit to make sure you can enter the building and get settled before the first bell. Thank you.
