Gry Gambert Sensei

(1952 - 2012)

About us

Baltimore Dharma Group was founded in 1999 by Zuijun Esho Sensei (1952-2012). She trained with Tetsugen Glassman Roshi (1939-2018) at Zen Center New York (ZCNY) in Yonkers, New York, where she received  the 16 Bodhisattva Precepts.

In her 13 years leading BDG, Zuijun Esho Sensei shared her teachings with many students, some of whom took the 16 precepts with Reverend Dai-En Bennage Roshi  of Mount Equity Zendo in Pennsylvania and the Five Mindfulness Trainings from The Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh.  A core group of these students now take responsibility for running Baltimore Dharma Group.

Baltimore Dharma Group offers a place to:

  • learn how to meditate, chant and practice in the Zen tradition;

  • see how these ancient forms can teach us to embody joy, kindness, ease and energy as we practice with a group of spiritual friends -- the Sangha;

  • develop the muscle of awareness and compassion to realize the awakened nature of all beings -- including ourselves -- in the midst of a 21st Century urban landscape.
